Post 1: What makes a good argument?

Think about an argument you've observed between two friends. Consider your favorite detective show or movie. Recall a political debate you've seen on tv.

What makes a good argument?
How does a person win an argument?

  1. Making valid points and really depicting what you are trying to say is what I think makes a good argument. A person wins an argument by making valid points and giving examples of what they are trying to say.

  2. Making a good argument should consist of the confidence in a person and what they are saying. It should have enough reliable evidence to help the argument, and it should also have trustworthy witnesses.

  3. Making a good argument means that you have enough reliable knowledge on the topic you're discussing. In order to win an argument, you must be persistent and confident.

  4. A good argument is one that has factual evidence to support it and current, relevant sources to the evidence. A person has a better chance of winning an argument if they stay calm and are able to persuade a person into believing what they're arguing

  5. A good argument has one side that is very passionate about what they are saying and they believe that they are right. A person wins an argument by having strong evidence (primary evidence) to support what they are arguing about. A person winning an argument could also have good persuasion to convince his or her side or change the opposing sides view

  6. In an argument there are always two sides. But in order to make your argument good -enough to win against the other person, because each argument has it's points and its flaws- you need to appeal to your peers -or the people your stating you argument to. If you humanize the situation and sympathize with the points in your argument. It will make the "Jury" also sympathize with your argument, and tend to lean more towards yours than your opponents. This is shown greatly in the court room as each side tries to win over the Jury.

  7. I think to make a argument good both sides need to be focused on the argument, you need reliable facts, and talk about things that are relavant to the argument dont bring other information or facts in to the argument if it doesnt make sense.
